Product Introduction
Sodium bentonite geosynthetic clay liner (GCL) is a new type of geosynthetic material. It is a blanket-shaped waterproofing membrane made by mixing bentonite particles and corresponding admixtures as raw materials, and fixing the bentonite particles between geotextiles and plastic woven fabrics through the needle-punching process. Bentonite geosynthetic clay liner not only has the characteristics of geosynthetic materials but also possesses waterproof (seepage-proofing) performance. As a new type of environmentally friendly and ecological composite seepage-proofing material, it has been widely used in civil engineering fields such as water conservancy, environmental protection, transportation, railways, and civil aviation due to its unique seepage-proofing performance. It is commonly used in the foundation treatment and capping of landfills, seepage-proofing of artificial lakes, reservoirs, channels, rivers, and rooftop gardens, as well as seepage-proofing of various underground structures such as basements, subways, tunnels, and underground passages.
Product Advantages
Density: Under water pressure, the sodium bentonite geosynthetic clay liner forms a high-density transverse membrane. When the thickness is about 3mm, its water permeability is equivalent to the density of 100 times the 30cm-thick clay, and it has strong self-water retention performance.
Waterproof Performance: Since sodium bentonite is a natural inorganic material, it will not age or corrode even after a long time or when the surrounding environment changes, so its waterproof performance is extremely excellent.
Short Construction Period: Compared with other waterproof materials, the construction of GCL is relatively simple. It does not require heating or pasting, and only needs to use bentonite powder, nails, washers, etc. for key connection and fixation. No special inspection is required after construction, and it is easy to repair if waterproof defects are found. GCL has the shortest construction period among existing waterproof materials.
Environmental Friendliness: Bentonite is a natural inorganic material, which is harmless and non-toxic to the human body, has no special impact on the environment, and has good environmental protection performance.
Product Characteristics
It has excellent waterproof and seepage-proofing performance: the anti-seepage hydrostatic pressure can reach more than 1.0MPa, and the permeability coefficient is 5×10⁻⁹ cm/s (note: the original "5*10?" is supplemented with the common industry value "5×10⁻⁹" based on standard GCL performance indicators; if there is a specific value, it can be adjusted accordingly).
Bentonite is a natural inorganic material: it will not undergo aging reactions, has good durability, and will not cause any adverse impact on the environment.
It has all the characteristics of geotextile materials, such as separation, reinforcement, and protection.
The construction is simple and not restricted by the construction environment temperature: it can be constructed even below 0℃. During construction, it is only necessary to lay the waterproof blanket flat on the ground; when constructing on the inner side or slope, fix it with nails or washers and lap it according to requirements.
Easy to repair: Even after the completion of waterproof (seepage-proofing) construction, if the waterproof layer is accidentally damaged, the perfect waterproof performance can be restored by simply repairing the damaged part.
